This limited edition Aberfeldy bottling was matured in ex-Bourbon and refill re-charred casks was finished in Pauillac Bordeaux casks for 4-5 months before bottling at 43%.

Producer Description

Finishing is the malt master’s art of taking a whisky that’s been matured for  the majority of its life in one type of cask, and placing it in another cask type for a period of time to add an extra dimension of flavour. Pauillac is a powerful and robust wine, so the goal is use this cask type to complement and elevate the signature character of Aberfeldy, not mask it.

As such, Stephanie MacLeod, Malt Master, carefully monitors maturation and flavour development in each cask until the desired f lavours have been achieved then the whisky is deemed ready to be bottled.
