Batch 9 of the Boutique-y Whisky Company's Tobermory is a 24 year. We're waiting on further details, but have to say it looks sherried, and it is the oldest whisky we've seen from this distillery in a while! Good price for it's age. 500ml 49.1%
Producer Description: "Our ninth batch from the Isle of Mull’s Tobermory distillery is a 24 Year Old, a release of just 865 bottles at 49.1% abv."
About the Label (Larger Label Under the Tasting Note)
"One of the few labels we’ve changed from the original release. The original label featured the colourful Tobermory harbour scene, much like the BBC Children's series ‘Balamory’ Our label now features more references to Alan Partridge than you can shake a stick at. Why? Because Tobermory is unpeated - there’s no peat/Pete allowed. You can also see our Ledaig label character heading to Islay."
500ml mlAndrew's Tasting Note
Nose: sitting by the fire in an old world drawing room with a snifter of brandy; malty with orange peel, jujubes and gentle spices; earthy with a touch of leather and freshly cracked nuts.
Palate: leather and tobacco with dark chocolate and nutty sherry tones; more jujubes, dried fruits and firm spices: nutmeg, clove and salty Dutch licorice; earthy and a touch smoky with a faint hint of rubber.
Finish: long, warming and spicy with fading dark fruits, leather, tobacco and a trace of clean smoke.
Comment: this is a dram for sipping on a cold night, warmed by a fire in a comfy leather armchair whilst nibbling on chocolate and reminiscing with friends.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: A general air of atmospheric library with pencil shavings and malty with an herbaceous twist of oregano and basil.
Palate: Rolling tobacco with coconut, raisin and cloves.
Finish: Fennel, hints of smoke and a fleeting glimpse of some really lovely creme brulé, biscuity notes.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.
We are big fans of not only their whimsical labels but also the consistently high standard of liquid they bottle.
