This is the first ever Boutique-y bottling of Lochindaal, which is a rarely seen expression of Bruichladdich, slightly more heavily peated than Port Charlotte. It is named for another closed Islay distillery. Bottled at 50.1%. Limit 1 Per Customer!
Producer Description: "Our first batch with the Lochindaal label is a 9 Year Old, a release of just 308 bottles at 50.1% abv. Lochindaal is a rarely seen whisky produced by The Bruichladdich Distillery, which is slightly more peated than its Port Charlotte expressions, though not as heavily peated as its Octomore. There was once a distillery called Lochindaal on Islay."
About the Label (Larger Label Under the Tasting Note)
"There's loads of cheese on this label, being cared for like newborns. Could this have something to do with a contentious cheese once produced on Islay...? The old Lochindaal distillery buildings became the islands creamery and a distinctive mild cheese was made here. Islay cheese first hit the headlines when it was banned for a time in Italy because of its supposed aphrodisiac qualities."

Nose: Grassy peat and grapefruit peels, with a whiff of salted caramel brownie developing.
Palate: Spicy as it opens with black pepper and smoke, though soft apricot tempers the heat. Slightly medicinal peat develops.
Finish: Lasting hints of sticking plasters and fruity esters.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

Distilled in 2009 from organically grown barley harvested in 2008, the whisky was matured 8 years in ex-Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey barrels before bottling at 50%!
Producer Description: "The whisky we distil from the organic barley of Mid Coul reflects the complex natural flavours of the landscape. Just as our stillmen refuse to abandon the traditional crafts of distillation in favour of automation or industrialisation, so farmer William Rose rejects the use of herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilisers. Crop rotation is key. Our barley must take its turn in a seven year farm cycle that also produces organic cattle, sheep, oats, beans, grass, carrots, market gardening and a megawatt of green electricity. Respecting the land, the soil and the climate nourishes a genuine and thorough understanding of terroir and the results are pure Bruichladdich."
