Bottled at 46.7%, the Bladnoch 15 Year "Adela" had been matured in Oloroso Sherry casks.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: more farmhouse ale notes, just as on the nose; strawberry yogurt and dried dark fruits: raisins, dates and prunes; firm leather and crisp spices: fennel, anise and freshly sliced ginger; chocolate espresso beans and chili oil.
Palate: crisp oak spices, firm leather and dried dark fruits: cooked raisins, dates and prunes; dark chocolate with cayenne pepper and chili oil; more espresso bean and a tobacco leaf.
Finish: warming with firm leather and spices; espresso bean, chocolates and dark fruits.
Comment: not flawed, but possibly a bit one dimensional; I'm not sure if Bladnoch's delicate spirit has the ability to stand up to first fill sherry.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Rich raisins, sultanas, with hints of orange peel and wood spices
Palate: Raisins and sultanas, rich fruit cake, sweet cinnamon and chocolate
Finish: Rich and long with a slight dryness

Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: a touch funky, reminds me of Farmhouse style ale; loads of barley, lemon citrus and Billy Bee Honey; decadent and floral, some honeydew melon and even a touch of Midori.
Palate: soft, creamy and malty with firm toasted oak; yeasty, vegetal with fresh cut green grasses; more lemon, lemon oil and candied lemon peel; still floral, vanilla extract and Billy Bee Honey; salted peanuts and almond brittle.
Finish: light but decadent, long, floral and toasty with more peanuts, almonds and grassy malt.
Comment: fresh and malty this young whisky is toasty, decadent and yeasty; delicate, floral and fruity in the old Lowland style.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Delicate floral with notes of honey and refreshing citrus.
Palate: Parma violets with fresh apples and hints of wood spice.
Finish: Sweet mouth coating leads to a refreshing finish.

Samsara means "rebirth", a reference to the distillery's reopening. This NAS single malt has been matured in ex-Bourbon and ex-Wine casks for 10-14 years. It is bottled at 46.7% without added colouring or chill filtering.

“Samsara means "rebirth" alluding to the rebirth of the Bladnoch distillery with its extensive modernization. Commemorating this rebirth, a whisky that has been matured in ex-Bourbon and ex-California Red wine casks for 10 to 14 years. A combination which is not very common and very particular with the red wine influence. All American oak.”
