We jumped at the chance to take this one on as an exclusive. IBs of BenRiach are rare, and distillery bottled whiskies over 20 years, forget it, they are pushing $400 and up these days. Matured in a Refill Hogshead, the whisky was bottled after 23 years at a natural cask strength of 47.5%. We sold out the initial shipment of 42 bottles in just a few weeks. we are grateful for an unexpected arrival of another 30 bottles in early September. Exclusively to KWM in Canada. 88pts Whisky Base.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: light, fresh and fruity; juicy orange, cantaloup and papaya; waxy with vanilla and apples baked in cinnamon; silky floral tones emerge with patience.
Palate: soft, creamy and coating with floral vanilla bean and more fruits; a touch of bitter orange, more cantaloupe and then in to the tropical fruits: pineapple, papaya and mango dusted in black pepper.
Finish: light but long, it stays fresh, fruity and floral with a touch of oak spice; more tropical fruits too.
Comment: this is a lovely old BenRiach; softer than I expected, but elegant, layered and dangerously drinkable!
