An Islay single malt of undisclosed origin, the whisky is created by marrying ex-Bourbon, Sherry and Quarter Casks. Bottled at 46%. Kind of sounds like it might be Laphroaig!

It wasn’t that long ago that when someone mentioned world whisky in the UK, one would normally think of Ireland, USA, Canada and perhaps Japan? Firstly, nobody makes Scotch whisky better than the Scottish! Scotch Whisky is certainly unique in the world. Its global status has been built on the back of Blended Scotch Whisky, and although single malt whisky sales are slowly growing, around 90% of the annual sales is still dominated by the blends. More people drink Scotch as a blended whisky than single malt whisky. Then I guess more people treat whisky as just a drink that they enjoy, rather than delve into its history and intricacies. While a few have tried to emulate Scotch whisky over the years, there’s definitely a trend for more regional styles of whisky being made around the globe. The distilleries are not trying to emulate Scotch whiskies, but are out to create a style particular to their market. Great news for whisky enthusiasts as there’s a whole new palate of flavours to explore!"

Nose: Lots of maritime peat, with notes of iodine intertwined with honey sweetness, paprika, salted caramel and old bookshelves.
Palate: Smoke returns alongside mint dark chocolate, espresso and new leather, with honey and soy sauce mixed together.
Finish: Boiled mint sweeties, liquorice allsorts, bonfire smoke and toffee penny, with a pinch of salt.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

It is back and exclusive to KWM in Calgary again, bottled at 58%. The Ileach Cask Strength is a mystery malt from Islay. In other words, the distillery of origin is a mystery but, look closely at the label, and you'll see a couple of clues: the distillery has its own bay, presumably passable on only the one side; it's water-front has a distinct appearance; and could that be the ruins of the Dunyvaig Castle on the far right? Lagging behind and not understanding our not-so-subtle hints on which distillery this could be? Fear not - this is what makes Mystery Malts so much fun.

Believed to be Caol Ila, the whisky is bottled at a cask strength of 58%. Finlaggan is an Islay mystery malt named for the most historically significant site on Islay. Loch (lake) Finlaggan--named after St. Findulgan who is believed to have brought Christianity to Islay--and its islands were the political and social capital of the Lord's of the Isles, who ruled the Western Isles of Scotland for over 400 years. Finlaggan Cask Strength is put together by the Vintage Malt Whisky Company, whom are also responsible for the Cooper's Choice and Ileach lineup. It is bottled at a batch strength of 58% ABV.

Peatheads, rejoice! For those searching for a fix of sharp, young peat and bucketloads of billowy smoke, look no further. Port Askaig is a wee ferry port off the east coast of the isle of Islay. Its proximity to two of the island's most unfairly overlooked distilleries should give some sort of clue as to the pedigree of this neat little treat of a dram. Your choices are either Caol Ila or Bunnahabhain, and let's just say the answer rhymes with Caol Ila (Do you know how hard it is to rhyme in Gaelic?!).
If you know the distillery's character you'll immediately be able to see it all over this one. A true value whisky too. 45.8% abv, uncolored and non-chill-filtered.
