Bruno and Brigitte Widmer laid the first stone in 1981 with the purchase of the neglected Brancaia estate. And 40 years later, they are still doing it with a lot of heart and soul. The day-to-day business of Brancaia has long been in the hands of the second generation and the third is starting to get involved more and more. Brancaia has been a certified organic winery since 2019 and the winery includes around 40 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti Classico (Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti) and another 40 hectares in the Maremma.

Made from Merlot, the wine shows fragrant and floral aromas of white flowers and watermelon with the fruit being sourced from the vineyards in Maremma. In contrast to red wine, they harvest the Merlot grapes a little earlier, so the alcohol and structure remain light while imparting the wine with a bright salmon pink colour. The must ferments spontaneously at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks without any contact time with the mash before the young wine is aged on the lees for three more months. The rosé is suitable both as an aperitif wine and as a meal companion.
Ideal with: aperitifs, salads, shellfish, seafood and poultry. It's great with prosciutto and fresh figs.
