We were blown away when we tried this in early January, it is an absolutely stunning Blended Scotch Whisky, and the price, even considering this is a half-bottle, is excellent. Only 42 bottles came to Alberta, and we took a good chunk of them. The whisky is a part of a trilogy of Blends including a 21 and 27 Year, highlighting Dewar's Double Ageing process. Whiskybase score: 88pts. World Whisky Awards Winner, best Blended Scotch Whisky 21 Year and Over! 46%.

Andrew's Tasting Note

Nose: old, antique-y, soft worn leather, moist Christmas cake and treacle sauce; Dominican cigar tobacco, Demerara sugar and bags of tropical fruit: overripe bananas, mango, papaya; loads going on.

Palate: matches almost perfectly with the nose; still old and antique-y, this is old school whisky; damp Dominican cigar tobacco, moist Christmas cake, dark chocolate and treacle sauce on sticky toffee pudding; the tropical fruits are still there, and still very ripe; maple syrup, Demerara sugar and PX sherry all floating on top. 

Finish: warm, spicy and decadent with rich sherry, loads of fruit and lots of layers; late tropical fruits as the rest settles down.

Comment: simply wow; when we first tried this I immediately asked the rep, how much can you get me? sadly, only 3 dozen... it has shades of some of the best old Blends I've ever had, like Compass Box's The General; a stunning whisky, at an amazing price; a must have!

Double Double Aged is a unique 4 stage aging process where all the whiskies are married in casks multiple times for better balance & integration of the whiskies leading to an incredibly smoother mouth feel."
