An exciting small bottling from one of the finest vineyards in the Coombsville district whose burgeoning reputation for style and profound quality gain traction with every vintage. Local winemakers have long appreciated this cool district in southeastern Napa close to the bay, known for its porous volcanic soils and dark succulent, aromatic wines of noteworthy intensity. Meteor Vineyard sits on rocky volcanic ash on a prominent knoll top in the center of the appellation in the shadow of the ancient volcano’s caldera.

Winery Tasting Note (2018 Vintage)
The aromas teem with black and blue fruits – blackcurrant, blackberry and boysenberry—with violet and lilac floral lift, notes of sweet spices and dried herbs, and a fresh, sweet spearmint edge. The wine is incredibly intense and dynamic on the palate with a silky granular texture and remarkably deep, cool-toned fruit and savory characters. Broad fine-grained tannins provide tremendous lift to the wine’s natural richness and density. The wine expands to an explosive finish with a note of anise and lavender complexity. Absolutely gorgeous!

94 Points - Erin Brooks - "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Meteor Vineyard is a lovely cool-climate Cabernet. It has aromas of fresh black currants, graphite, black currant bud, cedar and red berry sparks. The full-bodied palate is concentrated but restrained, with minerally, crunchy black fruits, fresh and finely grained, finishing long on an iron note."
DuMOL was founded in 1996, focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from distinctive vineyards in Sonoma and Napa Valley. Over the 25 years of operation, they have honed their skill in making wines of place and distinction. DuMOL has added to the roster of varietals to include small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Viognier. DuMOL is farming small select parcels across more than two dozen very special vineyard sites. These sites include their own vineyard as well as others in the Russian River Valley and sites in Sonoma Coast and Carneros regions. Andy Smith, head winemaker and partner, says it takes time to determine the detailed characteristics of a vineyard and then to use the right winemaking techniques to produce the best wine possible from that site. The capacity at the winery is 15,000 cases annually. The winery is not open to the public and sales are through their mailing list, restaurants and a small selection of public retailers.

This powerful and cellar-worthy red blend is produced from a single vineyard in the Walla Walla region of Washington state by the Figgins family - the same family behind the fabled Leonetti Cellars. It is made from a blend led by a healthy amount of Cabernet Sauvignon tempered by Petit Verdot and Merlot. It is aged for nearly 2 years on new and used French Oak casks before bottling.

This is one of the classic California Cabs, and the 2016 vintage, the 35th, earned a perfect 100pt score from Wine Advocate. This Cabernet Sauvignon is big and rich without being overwrought. Lovely aromatic nuances give way to great mouthfeel and length with wonderful, dynamic energy. Aged 20 months in French oak barrel (60% new). The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot.

Wines of this caliber are worth a special effort to find, purchase, and consume. Tether is a project that combines the efforts and skill of winemaker Anna Monticelli (Anna spent five years as the assistant winemaker at Bryant Family Vineyard under the tutelage of Philippe Melka) and the negociant/wine broker extraordinaire Kimberly Jones. Using grapes sourced from a variety of regions within Napa Valley, this big red is composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Malbec aged in 50% new French Oak for 18 months. It's a bold and structured wine, with plush tannins and a long, lingering finish. Expect notes of ripe bramble berries, plum, wild haskapp berries, as well as rich cocoa, freshly brewed coffee and baking spices. A great wine to enjoy over a meat-focused dinner.

A true Napa Cabernet! This wine is an explosion of character, with elements of wild summer berries, pepper, a touch of oak spices, and a smooth, lingering finish. It's smooth, yet bold, and is just simply an incredible bottle of wine. We would recommend ageing this wine for 5 or so years, but it's also delightful now. We would recommend serving this wine with a beef dish that been cooked low and slow (something like stew), or with a beautiful Brisket.
