The second release in the Balvenie Stories is the Week of Peat, a 14 year old single malt made from a run of heavily peated barley. Almost certainly matured in American oak, though that is not specified. 48.3%.

"Eager to experiment with The Balvenie profile using what he had learnt from a recent trip to Islay, distillery manager Ian Millar ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln. For a week a year, The Balvenie distills a batch of peated malt, resulting in a whisky rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes with an extra layer of delicate smokiness."

Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: soft, honeyed and fruity with chewy malt and a delicate hint of peat smoke; a touch of smoked brisket; loads of vanilla, beeswax and baked white fruits; a touch of pine needles and spruce tips.
Palate: round, honeyed and malty with a surge of soft oily peat; still fruity, more baked white fruits, some apricot and Seville oranges; the peaty is pine-y with more spruce tip notes; the smoke is clean and elegant with a savoury hickory smoked BBQ twist; the barley is lush and the fruits become more tropical.
Finish: elegant, chewy and malty with loads of fruit, vanilla and clean peat smoke; medium-long and soft.
Comment: though prominently peated, it does not come across as an Islay-style malt; very soft, elegant and layered; if I were to draw a comparison though, it would be to a light late teens Ardbeg; this is not a Balvenie for fans of the Balvenie, but for fans of things with a bit more smoke and peat!
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Gentle sweet peat smoke, lighter floral notes and delicate butterscotch honey.
Taste: Velvety and round to taste with the peat smoke balancing citrus flavours, oaky vanilla and blossom honey.
Finish: Gentle smoke with a lingering and creamy vanilla sweetness.

The latest 25 year old offering from the venerable Balvenie Distillery also comes with a brand new, slightly higher price. Though not too high, at least. This quarter century single malt has been carefully put together by the legendary David Stewart. Bottled at 48%.

"To craft The Balvenie Twenty-Five, David carefully chose some of The Balvenie’s rarest Traditional American and European Oak casks to create the special tasting profiles designed for the range. These single malt whiskies had matured for twenty-five years and were handpicked to complete the layers of flavor envisioned. The two casks were then married together in the brand’s Traditional Oak Tuns for just the right amount of time to become one sophisticatedly simplistic expression."
