Following hard on the heels of last year's 8 year old, Douglas Laing offers us a 10 year old Bunnahabhain from its Single Minded range. This particular expression is a single cask bottling from one refill hogshead. The outturn may have been low, but the quality is high.

Producer Tasting Note
The nose bursts with salty rock pools, gentle smoke and sweet cereal. The palate brings buttered wholemeal bread with charcoal cured bacon. The long finish is full of brown sugar, peat smoke, charred oak and vanilla cream.

As if 'Bunnahabhain' wasn't hard enough for most people to pronounce, Islay's great underdog of a distillery releases a whisky with a name guaranteed to tie your tongue in knots. Toiteach a Dha - pronounced 'Taw-check-a-gah' - is a peated expression that replaces both its forerunner (Toiteach) and the beloved Ceobanach. The name actually means "Smoky Two," which refers to the fact that this is considered a sequel to the original Toiteach. This time 'round, though, they've amped up the sherry influence, so fans can expect a smashing together of Bunnahabhain's house styles: sharp, clean young peat and rich creamy sherry. 46.3% abv

A few years back Bunnahabhain bumped their strength up to 46.3%, bottling it without colouring or chill-filtering. This is the entry level bottling of the Bunnahabhain Distillery, known as the "Gentle Giant of Islay." Bunnahabhain's whisky is generally unpeated, bucking the trend of most Islay distilleries, though it does also produce peated malts. Bunnahabhain is the anchor whisky of the Black Bottle Blend.
