From the Producer: "It was a long and winding road for Masataka Taketsuru, founder of Nikka Whisky, before he could finally distill his first whisky in Japan. A battered trunk and some old hand-written notebooks exhibited at the Yoichi distillery bear witness to his journey to Scotland, almost 100 years ago, along which he developed a true passion for whisky, but also fell in love with his future wife Rita. It is this road, traveled by the one known today as the “father of Japanese whisky,” which served as an inspiration for a modern-day case, which brings together 5 precious whiskies bearing his name: Taketsuru Pure Malt, the no-longer produced Taketsuru 12 year old bottling, the multi-award-winning Taketsuru 17 year old and 21 year old, as well as the extremely rare Taketsuru 25 year old. To crown it all, two reproductions of Masataka Taketsuru’s notebooks (in Japanese) complete this sensorial journey with an imaginative one: what awaited the young Japanese man as he was just setting off on this road.”
