Green Spot Leoville Barton Irish Whiskey

Neat stuff coming out of Midleton distillery lately. And anything that bolsters the portfolio in the 'color spot' range is a good thing, in my humble opinion.

Green Spot has long been a favorite of Irish whiskey fans. It is triple-distilled, light and approachable, but also deceivingly rich in flavour, and packs more nuance into the glass than almost anything in its weight class (Irish Pot Still, that is). So what happens when you take that rather delicate and complex spirit and rest it in ex-wine casks for a year or two? It's simple really: a punchier version of an old favorite. At its heart, this one is 75% ex-bourbon and 25% ex-Oloroso. That alone is exciting enough in a Pot Still whiskey, but it's the secondary maturation in barrels that once held French Oak Chateau Leoville Barton Bordeaux wine casks that really sets this apart from its contemporaries.

46%, unchill-filtered and natural colored.
