Whisky Advocate Tasting Note: ""Extra-aged” bourbon finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The third Distiller’s Masterpiece release, the previous two being over a decade ago. The PX sherry is certainly evident, with its lush, dark fruit (raisin, prune, ripe plum), marmalade, and layered dark sugars (toffee, molasses, maple syrup). A peppering of spices (cinnamon, allspice, vanilla) and dry, resinous oak round out the palate. Certainly a mood whiskey. Perhaps with a cigar after dinner?"

What was once Small Batch is now Single Barrel! Baker’s Single Barrel Bourbon is produced at Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. It is one of the few Jim Beam-made Bourbons to retain an age statement on the label, Baker’s is a minimum 7-year-old Bourbon and part of the Jim Beam premium line that also contains Booker’s and Basil Hayden’s. Named after Jim Beam’s nephew: Baker Beam, it is bottled at 53.5% ABV or 107 Proof.

Basil Hayden Bourbon is made by Jim Beam Distillery. It is created using the high-rye Old Grand Dad mash bill, which purportedly contains about 27% Rye in the mash. Bottled at 40%.
When Basil Hayden Sr. began distilling his smooth bourbon in 1796, the state of Kentucky was only 4 years old and George Washington was president of the United States! Hayden was born and raised in Maryland, where he learned to make whiskey from rye. When he came to Kentucky, Hayden began making whiskey from a base of corn, but added a higher percentage of rye than other distillers, resulting in a smooth, mild bourbon that was distinctly his own.

Legent (pronounced ‘lee-jent’) is comprised of three lots of Bourbon matured in different manners. A large portion is 5 year old Straight Bourbon. This was blended with Bourbon that was finished California red wine casks for one year and another batch of Bourbon finished in Sherry casks for two years. Legent is bottled at 47% ABV.
This new Bourbon from Beam Suntory was a collaboration between their American and Japanese arms of whisky making. Suntory’s master blender, Shinji Fukuyo, partnered with Jim Beam’s Master Distiller Fred Noe to create Legent, which underwent several years of development before the final product was released. Fred Noe’s part in everything was the distillation itself - as Master Distiller at Jim Beam. Shinji Fukuyo was in charge of the blending.
