Chateau Cap de Faugeres encompasses 46 hectares of vines planted to 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, typical to the right bank. Owner Silvio Denz has more than doubled the size of the vineyard over the last decade, employing a vine density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The vines are 30 years of, age on average but some run closer to 50. The terroir is mainly limestone and clay soils. The wine is aged in mostly, one-year-old, French oak barrels for 12 months

The wine is showing a perfect amount to age right now, offering plush notes of black fruits, silky tannins and a whiff of vanilla/oak. Try it with lamb chops, steak frites or roast duck.
