A super-cool, super-Canadian gin made from six botanicals found in Canada's own Arctic region. Handpicked during the Arctic's short-lived summer, they are then infused into a gin, which develops its own unique taste and colour. (It's bright yellow.) One for "adventurous amateurs and connoisseurs alike" according to the Ungava website. We agree!

Although the brand hints a gin's heyday at the height of the British Raj in India, the brand only dates from 1987. Its name was chosen through a competitive process which pitted Madison Avenue ad firms against each other. Botanicals include: almond, lemon peel, liquorice, juniper berries, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise. The spirit is triple-distilled using a carterhead still. Bombay is a more floral and soft gin that the "punchier" ones distilled in copper pot stills.

Tanqueray Gin was initially distilled in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray in the Bloomsbury district of London. Yet, despite its name, London Dry Gin is primarily produced in Scotland. London Dry Gin is made through double distillation of a neutral grain spirit with botanicals added during the second distillation. Key botanicals used to make Tanqueray are juniper, coriander and angelica root. Tanqueray is now made in Cameron Bridge, Scotland.

Although it's made in England, it's actually made by a Danish IT expert named Christian Jensen, who fell in love with the London dry gin style while working in Japan.
