Situated to the north of Lake Grandlieu, the commune of Bouaye enjoys excellent exposure. Its south-facing slopes, covered with gravel, favour early maturity. Harvested at the limit of over-ripeness, this Muscadet has been aged for 6 years on fine lees in underground tanks. Try it with fish in sauce, scallops or goat cheese. A real gastronomic Muscadet, 100% Melon de Bourgogne, as it is also known.
The average age of the vines is 35 years,a citrus-driven white wine aged sur lie (on the lees), which imparts a creamy texture as well as floral and light spice notes to the wine. This is a great wine for pairing with oysters, mussels, scallops, salads, or a grilled cheese sandwich!

This is one terrific buy! Viña Mayu was established in 2005, branching off from the Elqui Valley’s first fine wine producer that started up in 1998. Mauro Olivier was one of the pioneers, planting vines for fine wine production and sourcing grapes from different vineyards in the valley. He started working in his family's vineyards at a young age and spent some time working in Pisco production (the national Chilean spirit, made from white wine). In 2000, he planted the first Carménère and Syrah vines in the valley. Five years later, in 2005, he decided it was time to embark on his own wine project, creating the Mayu label. Mayu is an ancient INCA name for the Milky Way, literally meaning "creek of stars." Mayu's Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic dry white wine with ripe gooseberry, citrus and apple fruit flavours with crisp acidity. Located in the heart of the Appellation Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu, four generations of winegrowers built the Domain du Haut Bourg. The first vine was planted in 1945, and today, the surface of the vineyard reaches 40 hectares.
The vineyard is entirely located in the town of Bouaye. The soil mainly contains mica schist, granite and sand. It gives good balance and richness to the wines. The lac de Grandlieu (south), the Loire river (north) and the low altitude (from 15 to 25 meters) create a microclimate characterized by low-temperature differences between day and night. This phenomenon allows an early harvest.
