This 1L bottling of Woodford Reserve said "Duty Free" in the description, but with such a great label, inspired by the Kentucky Derby, who were we to turn it down?!. The whisky is sweet and honey, with the corn and toasted oak notes shinning through. The pot stills it is distilled in has lent a big oily body and some leathery notes. The rye too makes its presence felt with spices and darker fruits.

Woodford is a Bourbon Distillery with Scottish roots, and which employs pot stills for its distillation. The distillery is nestled into a little hollow south of Frankfort. The warehouses have a unique gravity fed rail system on which its barrels can be moved around the site. Woodford Reserve was the official Bourbon of the 2014 Kentucky Derby.
