As the oldest continuously operating winery in the world, this estate has a strong historical legacy: Barone Ricasoli was largely responsible for creating the Chianti Classico demarcation in the 19th century, as well as serving as Prime Minister of Italy for a spell. Francesco Ricasoli today is the 32nd Barone and took the helm in 1993. Pairings include grilled chicken and steak or a robust red pasta sauce.
This is a juicy wine with blackberry aromas and flavors balanced by hints of earthy and savoury characteristics. The finish is long with a transition to tart cherry. This wine opens amazingly after the first glass.
