On the one hand, the story of Okanagan Falls, BC, winery Blasted Church Vineyards is similar to many others in the region. In 2002, Vancouver expats Evelyn and Chris Campbell were through with their urban careers and figured owning a winery would be fun. 750 mlThe Syrah was sourced from the Lloyd Vineyard (52%) on the West Bench of Osoyoos, the House Vineyard (33%) south of Oliver, and the Red Brick Vineyard (15%) on the East Bench of Osoyoos. The Lloyd Vineyard brings florals and elegance, the House Vineyard contributes a beautiful fruit and mineral profile, and the Red Brick Vineyard brings the savoury, gamey character that Syrah is known for. It offers a mix of dark and red berries and ripe plum on the attack. Fine-grained tannins build through the mid-palate and into the savoury chocolate and wild sage-inflected finish. Beautiful acidity throughout keeps the wine fresh and balanced.
