Hungary is famous for its sweet wines, but the country's winemakers also make beautiful dry table wines, too, such as this one. Furmint is the grape here, and while it's a common one in Hungary, it's not one we see often in Canada. Here's your chance to try it at a great price! Its dry furmint wines are only recently beginning to attract the same attention. Floral, candy and fruity notes make this one a standout; it will pair well with rich dishes such as sole or lobster with butter.

"I grew up in a winemaker family and while working in the wine industry I also studied intensively the world of wine. It made me realize the big difference between the wines close to nature and the ones which are influenced by the industry. I want to make special wines which have personality and identity, delicate wines with character influenced by their origin and heritage with traditional grape varieties which translate the sense of place," says Peter Wetzer. As for the wine? The grapes are Kekfrankos, sometimes called Blaufrankisch in other parts of the world, including Canada. This red wine is organic, biodynamic, and will likely appeal to fans of Pinot Noir. It is unfined and unfiltered, and contains no added sulphur. A fascinating red that changes constantly in the glass."
