"In the tapestry of Islay, Speyside, Highland and Campbeltown, Lowland is all too often overlooked, but this historically important and increasingly diverse region in the Scotch whisky rebirth of today, gives us plenty to chew (and sip) on.

"And speaking of chewing, this ex-Rye cask matured Auchentoshan is a mouthful; sweet, meaty, fleshy and fruity. As absolutely delightfuldram that after 3 years in ex-rye, our warehouse received a “we’ve gotto bottle this” message when we pulled a sample at the end of 2025. So here it is!"

Producer Tasting Note

Nose: Peach, lilies, black peppercorn, warm vapours from a lovers’ parted lips.

Taste: Fruity, fleshy, firm backbone and lifting aromatic spice. Hot honey, Genoa salami, tinned peaches.

Finish: More fruit, less spice, more oak, less salami, more please? Yes, please.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."

TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.
