Producer Tasting Note
Nose: An expressive funkiness that resonates with some people as overripe, bruised pineapple but with others as fresh bicycle tires and Plimsoll shoes fresh from the box. Note, too, acacia, lanolin, and beeswax candles.
Palate: The expressive funkiness of the nose is much tempered on the palate. The fruitiness (guava paste and dried mango) is to the front but there’s abundant rich, black licorice and dark roasted coff ee beans to the rear.

"This is one of two Decadent Drams web exclusive rum bottlings this month. This is a 32 year old, blended Guyana rum. We secured some small amounts of continentally aged 1990 Enmore (40%) and 1990 Uitvlugt (60%) that were stored out of cask. We decided to marry these together in an old refill rum barrel for around ten months and then bottled that mix at natural marrying strength. The result is a beautiful and pure example of the mature Guyana pot-distilled style: full of breads, medicines, seawater and pickles."

There are a lot of great rum distilleries out there. Diamond Distillery in Guyana is one that is most often mentioned by rum lovers as one of the best. It is most well-known for its official rum bottlings with the El Dorado name, but there are often really good small batch and single cask offerings from independent bottlers available as well.

The El Dorado 25 Year is one of the most sought after rums in the world. We haven't seen it for several years and are only getting 6 bottles. The rum comes from Demerara Distillers in Guyana, it is a limited release that is only produced from excellent single vintages.
