North Star Whisky has collaborated with the whisky blogger Ralfy to create a special blended malt, with proceeds going to charity. The whisky is 11 years old.

"In true Ralfy fashion, this was no ordinary blending session. Over two hours, live in the Whisky Bothy and streamed to his Patreon community, Ralfy real-time blended five different Scotch whisky samples to craft what has become an epic new bottling — now wrapped proudly in North Star Spirits livery.

"Raisin-oak, soft vanillas, syrupy gingers, soft plum & a little light French mustard. Adding water sweetens the nose & lifts cask influence. Caol Ila peat, ginger, oakwood, soft liquorice, with hints of absinthe. Adding water brings out saltiness, some tar & chimney-peat, with mint, floral & savoury green sage."

"This beautiful old style malt whisky was blended from only the finest and scarcest of Scottish pure pot-distilled malt whiskies. Great makes such as Downess, Parkwhore. St. Spankdalene, Convalscore, Inverlovin', North Pork, and Ladybum all feature in this exceptional recipe, which has been a closely guarded secret since last month, passed down from Ops team to warehouse by email thread, just as our forefathers did in their day. It contains only the purest malt whiskies, matured in exquisite sherrywood and refill casks. Absolutely no deleterious agents of any kind have been added."

"This was a parcel of sherry butts 'filled' in 2001. But we don't know the precise mix of components, only that it was originally intended to be for Famous Grouse. The constituent malts are very likely Macallan, Highland Park and Tamdhu. I was told that some parts of the mix date back to 1975, but we've no documentation to confirm that. It would explain the very old school sherry matured character of those casks though, and the low cask strength ABVs, all circa 45%."

MORE STOCK EXPECTED MAY-ish 2026
Evan deserves the credit for sleuthing out this new KWM exclusive Campbeltown Blended Malt. We tried a sample early in the fall, and were suitably impressed by it for the price. 10 years of age and 50.7%.
If the rumours can be believed, the whisky is a marriage of Springbank from 1994 and 2015, with Glen Scotia from 1992. But true to form the chap at North Star Spirits has little to say about it on the record, the official product description "Our own mix of Springbank, Glen Scotia, and other Campbeltown Malts" seemingly raises more questions than it answers.
But perhaps this is a time to not look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. We have here a 10 year old Campbeltown Blended Malt at just over 50%, with a beautiful label, and the price is very reasonable!
