Producer Tasting Note
Aroma: Brim full of tangy, zesty citrus fruits, reminiscent of orange breakfast marmalade, along with some distinctive floral notes, like honeysuckle and jasmine. These is also a curious note like beeswax, or scented candles, and with a splash of water, more perfumes notes emerge, like peach blossom and vanilla.
Taste: The mouthfeel has a real ‘bite’ to it, as the lively citrus fruit notes are encountered; the notes of Seville orange, lemon and grapefruit veritably dance across the palette, along with softer notes of baked bread, apricot, muscovado sugar and butter candy.
FInish: There is a curious, anaesthetising, mentholic note in the background, and finally the medium – long aftertaste has flavours of orange oil, leather and oak tannin.

Bottled at 46%, Signet Reserve is a parcel of Glenmorangie's famous Signet, extra matured for 12 months in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.

The new Nectar' D'Or has some age on it... 16 years, and the cask makeup has been tweaked too. After maturing 14 years in ex-Bourbon, the whisky is now finished for a further two in a marriage of four different sweet wine cask types: Sauternes, Monbazillac, Moscatel, and Tokaji. 46%

"For extra depth and creaminess, silky Glenmorangie aged for 14 years in bourbon casks was selected. The whisky was then finished for two more years in a new combination of sweet white wine casks.
"Sauternes and Monbazillac casks from France bring sumptuous notes of pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apples. Moscatel casks from Spain offer sweet, syrupy dessert-like notes. And Tokaji casks from Hungary, add white chocolate, almond and honeycomb flavours to their creation."

Elegantly packaged in a cognac like bottle the whisky has been matured in bourbon barrels before finishing in Oloroso sherry casks.

"To create it, we gather the silky, fruity spirit from our giraffe-high stills and let it steep in American oak casks. No less than 15 years later, we transfer a portion into Oloroso sherry casks for three more years. Once 18 years have passed, we reunite them to create its warm balance of sweet, floral lushness. The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban recently evolved from a 12 year old, into a 14 Year. Matured initially in ex-Bourbon, the wine is finished in Port casks before bottling at 46%. This whisky is replete with notes of chocolate and orange, which is derived from the finishing in port casks.
Producer Tasting Note
Aroma: Dark mint chocolate and Seville oranges mingle with sandalwood and walnut, with a spicy finish of pepper and nutmeg.
Taste: Mint chocolate and walnuts envelop the palate, laying the foundations for rose, Turkish delight and sweet Seville oranges.
Finish: Long-lasting, silky aftertaste leaving dark chocolate mints and traces of orange.
Andrew's Tasting Note - on the 12 Year
Nose: dried cherry and cranberry leap out of the glass; some musty old wood with dark chocolate, prune juice and cooked dates.
Palate: big, nutty and wood; more dark chocolate with some firm old leather and sweet Cuban tobacco; the musty old wood is still there with some licorice nibs and decadent spice.
Finish: medium-long and warming; the spicy oak holds on with a touch of chilli heat.
Comment: I forgot how interesting this whisky is; I am not generally a fan of Port matured or finished whiskies, but this one is good!

The finished whisky is a thicket of voluptuous flavour combinations. Walnut and black pepper. Mandarin orange and melted marshmallow. Dark chocolate bar and peppermint. And, like stepping into a chocolate-minty-orange unknown, the journey is as delicious as the destination."
