“Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon is finished in port wine casks for an award-winning spirit. We guide each batch’s conditioning, blending our handcrafted bourbon in small batches of 8 to 12 barrels at a time. It’s typically aged for up to 6 years. While we lose about 5% of the spirit each year to evaporation, or “the Angel’s Share,” what’s left behind after we’re done is truly worthy of envy.
Once it’s deemed ready, we finish our bourbon in ruby port wine casks, which adds subtly distinct flavor nuances that enhance the whiskey without challenging it. Our port finishing process lasts between three to six months, depending on taste. We use 60-gallon ruby port barrels made from French oak and imported directly from Portugal. Joining True Wild Distillery's Roper's Hold staple of Canadian Whiskies is a... Bourbon?!?
That's right. This 6 year old Bourbon Whiskey was originally distilled at the historic Barton Distillery, which resides just outside of Bardstown, Kentucky. It has been finished in new toasted oak casks and bottled at 50%. And I believe it is only available in Alberta.
True Wild Distillery & Restaurant is located in Calgary, Alberta. The Roper's Hold Whisky series consists of casks sourced from other Canadian (and now American) distilleries, which have been finished in different casks and then are released in small batches.

Basil Hayden Bourbon is made by Jim Beam Distillery. It is created using the high-rye Old Grand Dad mash bill, which purportedly contains about 27% Rye in the mash. Bottled at 40%.
When Basil Hayden Sr. began distilling his smooth bourbon in 1796, the state of Kentucky was only 4 years old and George Washington was president of the United States! Hayden was born and raised in Maryland, where he learned to make whiskey from rye. When he came to Kentucky, Hayden began making whiskey from a base of corn, but added a higher percentage of rye than other distillers, resulting in a smooth, mild bourbon that was distinctly his own.
