This 21 year old Speysider was matured in a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel and has an abv of 58.4%.

700 mlSMWS Tasting Panel's tasting note: "A stunning nose! Riddled with exotic flower nectars, heather honey, pineapple cubes, tutti frutti, whisky-soaked banana bread, resinous hardwoods and waxed burlap canvas. We revelled in a deep and beautiful impression of older-style, aged malt whisky. With reduction we got rice pudding with cinnamon, flower honey, sultanas, caraway and mineral oils. Increasing complexity and more medicinal qualities emerged over time as well.
The palate was initially full of exotic fruits in various guises: dried chunks, teas, smoothies, jams and oil infusions. We also found burlap and fat notes of wormwood and wintergreen. Reduction enhanced these beautiful waxy and textural qualities, bringing notes of crystallised honey, pressed wildflowers, fruity tobaccos and guava syrup. We found this one to be really stunning!"

Our Beginnings

Our Society grew out of a few individuals' irrepressible spirit of discovery and adventure, which still drives us today. Inspired by the unique character of a cask of single malt whisky, purchased over 30 years ago from a Speyside distillery, this pioneering group of friends founded the Society in 1983 to buy more casks and share their discovery with like-minded adventurers.
What We Do
Each of our whiskies must pass the uncompromising noses of our expert Tasting Panel – a secretive group of independent whisky connoisseurs from all walks of life – before being deemed worthy of an iconic Society green bottle. The exploration of flavour and sharing our discoveries is what we're all about. Our members enjoy exclusive access to our hand-picked whiskies from over 140 distilleries in Scotland and beyond. We bottle them at cask strength and offer a constant variety. How you drink them is entirely up to you.

Is it a coincidence we bottled two Gordon & MacPhail Glentauchers casks in a year? Yes, but it shouldn't be all that surprising... seeing as they are bottling some of the best whisky from the distillery. This 2000 vintage was matured 23 years in a First Fill Sherry Hogshead. We were blown away by this old-school dumpy, sherried single malt... it's a very cool dram! 55.8%.

Producer Description
This is a 19 year old Glentauchers single malt. We made it by muddling together a 2002 1st fill barrel of Glentauchers with a 2005 1st fill sherry butt of Glentauchers. The barrel got tipped in on top of the butt nearly two years ago, we bottled half that mix as Whisky Sponge Edition No.82 about a year ago, and now, we’ve decided it’s time to bottle the remainder of this mix. As such, here is Glentauchers 19 year old Decadent Drams! We bottled this with very slight reduction from cask strength at our favourite bottling strength of 57.1%. After an extra year in the sherry butt, with loads of headspace relative to the volume of whisky, the result is a hugely juicy and well-sherried, properly mature Glentauchers. Full of fruits, rich sherry notes, spices and waxiness. It’s despicably, decadently delicious stuff, and you should buy one for yourself and another for yourself and one for a pal. And one for your cat. Buy a cat if you need to in order to undertake that final instruction."
