Nose: The notes on the nose come in fast and furiously: barbecued plantains, smoked kippers, chocolate lava cake, burnt oak spice, fresh ocean sea spray, squid ink, and smoked hazelnuts.
Palate: The smoke and sherry seem to be dueling here and we’re on the sidelines watching the fight of the century. Leather motorcycle jackets in low tide, hot barbecue sauce brushed on fresh fennel, warm Guinness™, and burnt tempeh bacon.
Finish: The finish goes on and on with fresh potting soil, more smoked nuts, and warming chipotle smoked chocolates.

Bottled at 46.3%, This unpeated release from Bunnahabhain was matured in a combination of in first and second fill Sherry Casks.

A few years back Bunnahabhain bumped their strength up to 46.3%, bottling it without colouring or chill-filtering. This is the entry level bottling of the Bunnahabhain Distillery, known as the "Gentle Giant of Islay." Bunnahabhain's whisky is generally unpeated, bucking the trend of most Islay distilleries, though it does also produce peated malts. Bunnahabhain is the anchor whisky of the Black Bottle Blend.
