700ml mlAndrew's Tasting Note
Nose: creamy, decadent, and floral with loads of citrus and soft floral top notes; browned butter, shortbread, and creme caramel; juicy citrus fruits; it brought back childhood memories of my father cutting into a grapefruit with a grapefruit spoon; is it going tropical?
Palate: thick, almost insanely rich, and creamy with floral tones and bags of citrus; creamed honey, creme caramel, and Dr. Jane's shortbread with Fettercairn whisky icing; waxy and floral it builds into peppery spice; almond paste, macadamia nut butter, and a candied ginger heat to round things out; with patience its starts turning tropical!
Finish: light, fresh, fruity, and spicy with fading waxy citrus fruits and soft floral top notes; the tropical fruits finally emerge at the very end.
Comment: a lovely spirit-driven Glen Grant, only partly clothed by its first fill ex-Bourbon cask; old school and a touch tropical too!

"One of the funny pre-WhiskyLand labels. The old Scottish designers must be turning in their graves, but I am sure it is doing them good. Colour: straw. Nose: barley, buckwheat, beer, farmhouse bread, very ripe apples, quinces, clay, candle. With water: the candle only grows, we arrive at a huge Scottish cathedral candle. A very fine apple juice with pollen thereafter. Long live nature! Mouth (neat): the same again, barley eau-de-vie, calvados, pepper liqueur, fresh bread. With water: the epitome of malt whisky, bang on fresh and sweet barley. Finish: the cider returns, apple, barley syrup… Comments: it is not very complicated, and we were not ready to go this high, but the seminally authentic side tipped us over. When the archaeologists of the post-Trump future find these bottles among the rubble, they will say ‘that, that was malt whisky’. I do not think that will happen with ruby Port, Bordeaux or zinfandel finishings. SGP:551 - 88 points."
