Producer Tasting Note
Nose: dense and darkly sherried, lots of wood spice, dry earthiness, black truffle, leaf mulch and dark fruits soaked in Armagnac. Big, boisterous and powerful!
Palate: very rich and full of dark fruits, tobaccos, plums, mulling spices and many other classical sherry flavours. Huge whisky and brilliant!
Finish: long, drying, slighlty herbal and full of all these wonderful sherried characteristics with a pang of rancio in the aftertaste.

Is it a coincidence we bottled two Gordon & MacPhail Glentauchers casks in a year? Yes, but it shouldn't be all that surprising... seeing as they are bottling some of the best whisky from the distillery. This 2000 vintage was matured 23 years in a First Fill Sherry Hogshead. We were blown away by this old-school dumpy, sherried single malt... it's a very cool dram! 55.8%.

Well. Let's not ignore the elephant in the room. This is a heckuva lot of coin to lay down. No point in beating a dead horse; that's what it costs to play nowadays, unfortunately. But by this point, I think we all know that Macallan is more than a whisky. It's a statement. This new edition of the 18 Sherry Oak is currently sitting at 89.14 points on Whiskybase.
