17-year-old Arran. Can't imagine this one will hang around long. Created from an "even mix of first fill and second-fill Sherry hogsheads and first-fill Bourbon barrels"* this one is rumored to be very true to Arran form. I guess at some point we should start referring to this as Lochranza? Maybe?

Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Green apple and orchard fruits. Butterscotch and a hint of toasted oak.
Palate: Soft and lingering with almond and creamy vanilla.
Finish: A touch of cinnamon in the final mouthfeel.

The one we've all been waiting for. Finally, Arran's sister distillery Lagg has given us a core release. Last year's limited runs were fun, but Kilmory should be a little more true to what the distillery's profile should be like, going forward. The name refers to the small parish where the distillery lives. Matured in 100% first fill Ex-Bourbon, Kilmory is peated to 50 ppm (not far off Ardbeg levels!). We're kind of expecting sweet spirit with a really robust smokiness.

Machrie Moor is the name Arran gives to peated single malt whiskies from their distillery. The Machrie Moor Cask Strength is bottled at 58.2%. It used to have batch numbers, but given that it is now a part of the permanent Arran range they have phased those out. The barley is peated for 20ppm, which is a little lower than Bowmore on Islay.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Citrus notes with a background of peat and a puff of smoke immediately apparent.
Palate: A robust dram with the typical orchard fruits of Arran coming to the fore over a layer of toasted brioche and red berries.
Finish: Long lasting, creamy vanilla and coconut notes from the Bourbon cask.
A memorable dram with character andcomplexity.
More About Arran Machrie Moor
On the west coast of the Isle of Arran lies a windswept and mystical peat bog called Machrie Moor. Bronze Age stone circles and standing stones are strewn across its barren, undulating terrain. One of the stone circles is known as Fingal’s Cauldron Seat, where sits a stone with a carved hole. The legendary warrior giant Fingal is said to have tethered his favourite dog Bran to this stone.
