Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: dark, nutty and very sherried; dry-earthy oloroso tones, polished Italian leather shoes and loads of dark fruits: stewed prunes, grilled dates and cooked raisins; old fashioned root beer and honey baked ham with cloves.
Palate: rich, dry, nutty and very spicy; the deep oloroso notes are ruling the roost with espresso bean and loads more dark fruit; the effervescent root beer note is still there along with loads of spice: allspice, cinnamon sticks and hot ginger; still a touch meaty, beef bullion, more honey glazed ham and beef jerky.
Finish: long, coating and drying with dark fruits and crisp spices.
Comment: this is another unapologetic sherry bomb but far from over oaked; it is leaning to the darker, drier side of sherry matured whiskies with loads of spices, dark fruits and classic oloroso sherry notes; the spices are warm but at 55% it isn't hot.
