A wonderful chance to try an unusual (well, for Canada) wine from Austria! "Rotgipfler is a pale-skinned grape variety permitted in quality wines in Austria. It is planted in the warmer Thermenregion area, just south of Vienna, and used most notably alongside Zierfandler in a kind of traditional blended wine known as Gumpoldskirchen," according to Winesearcher.com. "However, varietal Rotgipfler wines are becoming more common, showing peach, pear, almond and spice characters with well-balanced acidity."
