Anne Gros and Jean Paul Tollot, two winegrowers who have been working in Burgundy for over 20 years, have combined their expertise to expand into the Minervois region in the Languedoc. Their vineyards are located in Cazelles, just north of Carcassonne in the shadow of the Montagne Noir, where temperatures are cooler and the terroir is varied. One particular highlight of their estate is a walled plot of 100-year-old Carignan vines. La Cinso Cinsault is a rare, unique single-varietal wine from one of the Languedoc’s core red grapes. The older-vine concentration shines and the taste is silky and supple. Enjoy with grilled meats and hearty vegetarian meals. Or of course, a cheese and cold cut platter.

Tourmaline is the entry-level wine for this Languedoc jewel. The blend 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah, shows aromas of cherries and plums with some chocolate notes. Wonderfully smooth and full-bodied with well-integrated tannins. This estate is located in the village of Fontanès in the Pic St Loup crus north of Montpellier. It is owned by the Causse family and has been run by Marcelle and her brother Michel since 1984. Marcelle produces only 4,000 cases of wine in total per year! Serve with roast chicken orvegetarian fare. Cheese always works too!
