Scotland > Campbeltown > Scotch and Other Whiskies > Single Malt > Springbank
The Springbank 18 year is lightly peated and coastal in style, with delicate nuance coming through with age. As it is for most of the Springbank range, the 18 year old is bottled at 46% ABV, un-Chillfiltered and with no colouring added.
The venerable Campbeltown distillery Springbank has a tremendous reputation amongst scotch drinkers - and for good reason. There is nothing quite like a good Springbank release, which tend to be very ‘old school’ and traditional to the core. This is due to the distillery being entirely hands on from malting through distillation and aging - and it is the only distillery to rely entirely on its own on-site floor maltings for all of the barley used in making whisky.
From the Producer
"A rusty copper colour, our 18-year-old is full of authority and is truly a classic, full-bodied dram. With a delicious nose, this whisky will tempt you in and hold your attention as you uncover its unique palate and finish."
Lemon meringue pie, pear skin, olive oil, almonds and digestive biscuits. A typical Kintyre coastal brininess comes to the fore.
In the background; dried bananas, cocounut shavings and butterscotch. The more prominant; carrot cake, treacle and freshly squeezed limes engulf the palate.
Very delicate; liquorice, gingerbread and Madagascar vanilla. Closely followed by mint, trinity cream and vanilla milkshake.
