Founded by Irish refugees on the outskirts of Glasgow in 1823, the Auchentoshan distillery has now been enveloped by the town as it has grown. The distillery's water comes from the Highlands some 40 kilometres away. In front of the distillery, a cooling pond was created by a Nazi bomb during the Second World War. Auchentoshan is the only full time triple-distilled whisky produced in Scotland (Springbank produces a small quantity of triple- distilled Hazelburn). While triple distillation used to be the norm, it is no longer! It has blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin aromas. The finish is fresh and fruity, with long lasting oaky sweetness. This is our best-selling expression of Auchentoshan; it is matured in bourbon casks before being finished in either pedro ximenez or oloroso sherry casks. The whisky is more rich and robust than your typical Auchentoshan.
