Bottled at the perilously low ABV of 40.1%, this 32 year old Blended Scotch whisky by That Boutique-y Whisky Company has a cute little highland coo on the label.
Producer Description
"Married from a bundle of casks of no less than 32 years of age, this indulgent whisky is full of characteristics only achievable after decades in oak: nuts, chocolate and gentle wood spice, all a gluggable 40.1% abv. Hopefully the first of many batches of this recipe."
About the Label
"Taking visual cues from great old blended Scotch brands, in this case St. Leger, TBWC’s St. Thomas references three of our team members on a single label (Liz, Phoebe and Dave) including a whisky industry first “...& Daughters”. The inspiration for this label came from classic Scotch labels of yesteryear. All those wonderful words; “Extra” “Special” and “Finest Oak Casks”, as well as an Emily Chappell-illustrated Highland Cow."

Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: freshly picked grapefruit, apricots, and sour plum; French crepes with powdered sugar and lemon juice; Flint Stone vitamins, Rockets, and Wine Gums; candied nuts and caramel sauce.
Palate: thick, doughy, and musty; this has an air of age to it, old grain, and old malt; more French crepes with powdered sugar and lemon juice; Mexican donuts and Guide's Mint icecream; the juicy fruits come later: melons, orange, apricot and peaches; more candied nuts and caramel sauce.
Finish: thick, creamy, and tasty with warming spices and bags of fruit; long, rich, and elegant.
Comment: this whisky is so thick and rich it is hard to believe that it was bottled at the perilously low strength of 40.1%; a beautiful dram, with a fun and whimsical label; I dare you to resist this "Extra Special" bottle adorned with a Highland Coo, matured in Dave "Worthington's Finest Oak Casks"!
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Malty, fudgy, and delightfully inviting with no nose prickle and plenty of character.
Palate: Luscious oak, mint chocolate and lasting finish of maturity and depth.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.
We are big fans of not only their whimsical labels but also the consistently high standard of liquid they bottle.
