Clydeside is another one of Scotland's freshman distilleries, or as we like to call them around here, the new kids on the block (insert favorite NKOTB song reference here; you know Andrew would). The distillery - one of Scotland's prettiest now - perches alongside the river Clyde in the heart of Glasgow. And while the distillery was officially founded about five years ago, the Inaugural release has only just made it to Canada. Albeit, in small quantities, as we'd expect.

This is the first single malt from the Isle of Raasay Distillery to find its way to Canada, release R-01. Produced from 100% Scottish concerto barley, peated to 48-52ppm and matured in a mix of First fill ex-Rye Whiskey, virgin Chinkapin oak, and first-fill Bordeaux red wine and bottled at 46.4%. The whisky is matured and bottled on the Isle of Raasay without chill filtering or added colouring.

"Isle of Raasay’s signature Single Malt Whisky, natural colour, non-chill filtered. Lightly peated with rich, dark fruit flavours. Peated and unpeated spirit made with 100% Scottish barley are matured separately in ex American Rye whiskey, virgin Chinkapin oak & ex Bordeaux red wine casks. Our six recipe casks marry together to create the perfect dram with real elegance, complexity and depth that speaks beyond its years. Every drop is distilled, matured, bottled and shipped directly from the Isle of Raasay. Island population: 161."

Ardnamurchan is unquestionably one of the most exciting young distilleries in Scotland. The whisky is rough-and-tumble old school highland malt. In other words, exactly what we love in young whisky. Expect a wee bit of peat with this one.

"Our Single Malt whisky comprises an equal proportion of peated and unpeated malt. The cask makeup is 65% ex bourbon barrels from Kentucky and 35% ex sherry casks, Oloroso and PX, from Jerez."

Lochlea has come of age! This wee Lowland distillery was built on a working farm, they're proud of it. The Sowing Edition is part of a series of limited edition malts meant to reflect the seasons on the farm. This release, dubbed First Crop, was created to exemplify the Spring sowing season. Lochlea is using their own barley, their own water and maturing on site. Distilled in 2018, bottled in 2022. Only 7,000 bottles from First Fill Bourbon. 48%
