Winery Tasting Notes (2019 Vintage)
The fruit drawn from this single site on a field of ancient quartz and marble delivers satisfying density with wild-berries, anis and hints of sweet spice on the nose and palate. Plum and mulberry drive through to a finish of caramel and nougat nuance unfolding on a long, silken and satisfying finish.

Talking about modern Barossa winemaking without mention Greenock Creek and their big, bold single vineyard Shiraz and Cabernet wines (among other varietals) is like only having half a conversation.
Greenock Creek was established by Michael and Annabelle Waugh on the banks of the Greenock Creek at Seppeltsfield, Barossa, South Australia in 1984. A stonemason by trade, Michael had originally come across the site in 1975 when all it had was an old homestead surrounded by antique vines. His trade came in handy both at Greenock Creek and at Barossa Valley's iconic Rockford Winery, where Michael helped friend and Rockford owner Robert O'Callaghan build the original stone winery buildings that are still in use to this day.
In the early 1990s, the Roennfeldt Road property became part of the estate. This “vine garden” in Marananga is the site for beautiful bush vine Grenache, our Apricot Block Shiraz and the 130-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz blocks (some of the oldest in the world) from which Roennfeldt Road wines are made. All Greenock Creek wines are big and beautiful with unfettered generosity. With the release of the first Creek Block Shiraz in 1986 and up to today the wines showcase the special character of single-site wines. Greenock Creek wines are made to evolve and develop with the passage of time.
Michael and Annabelle retired in 2018. Winemaker Alex Peel and a new wine team have taken the reins but plan to keep Greenock Creek's bold, intense, and powerful style.
Kensington Wine Market is privileged to be one of the exclusive purveyors of Greenock Creek wines for more than 15 years.
