Bucci Rosso Piceno Pongelli 2005

Italy > Central > Red Wine > Sangiovese

Located in the Jesi zone, Bucci has always stood apart and is usually picked as one of the top 3 producers of the region. Pongelli, a red wine, combines 50% Montepulciano and 50% Sangiovese grapes from the "San Fortunato" vineyard. Rich yet soft with supple fruit flavors, it is aged for one year in oak barrels. The taste is very reminiscent of Pinot Noir. An ideal wine for Christmas dinner.

This wine is a beautiful balance of vibrant fruits and rich oak/wood flavor. It has a lovely bouquet, enjoyed upon every sip. It is a supple wine, medium to medium-full body with a very smooth finish. Perfect for any red meat I would imagine, and ideal for all styles of Italian food. I think it could even be enjoyed with game bird; also, heavier chicken and fish dishes. Did I mention how smooth the wine is to drink. I would recommend this bottle to the rookie wine consumer and every wine drinker up to the wine connoisseur. I am not a connoiseur by any means, but I do enjoy a nice bottle of wine. Bucci Pongelli meets my expectations of a nice bottle of wine. Oh, and the price is great, do not change it!!!
